Who Am I? A Question Worth Asking

At some point in life — or at many points — we find ourselves asking: Who am I?

It’s a big question, and a brave one. It’s more than your name, your job, or where you come from. It’s an invitation to look beneath the surface and ask what really makes you you.

Sometimes this question comes when life changes — a new job, a loss, a big decision, or a moment when old ways of living no longer fit. Sometimes it shows up when you want more meaning and want to feel more connected to your true self.

When you ask Who am I? you plant a seed. That seed can grow in many directions. It might lead you to explore your family history or your roots. It might inspire you to pick up a journal and listen to that quiet voice inside that has answers you didn’t know you had. It might pull your attention deep inward, where you can sense the spark that connects you to everyone and everything around you.

Some traditions encourage people to repeat this question like a mantra — a guiding phrase that leads you closer to the heart of life itself. It’s a reminder that you don’t always need quick answers. Sometimes the question itself is what keeps you open and growing.

Some people come into this world with a strong sense of who they are and why they’re here. But for most of us, life is about asking, learning, unlearning, and asking again. So if you ever feel unsure, know that you’re not lost — you’re on a very human, very real journey.

When you sit with Who am I? you give yourself permission to let go of what you should be, so you can connect to who you truly are. Over time, the question can guide you to a place where you don’t need all the answers — just the courage to simply be yourself.

If you’d like to explore this question with support and structure, that’s the work I love to do. You don’t have to do it alone. Book a Power Hour.

Stay rooted, stay curious.

Shirley 🌱One love
